As the Worm Turns
You may think you know some folks and can therefore depend on them when the going gets rough, but should you reach out in time of great need, you may find instead that many a fair weather friend, "family" member, or the like, may instead see your weakness as a boon to lord over, dominate, or perhaps even benefit from your temporary misfortune. So it is that "when the chips are down," as the old saying goes, that we tend to see the "true colors" of those closest to us. Yet take heart, for the fortunes of all mere mortals are but fleeting. In fact, in celestial terms, change is a universal constant, and one day, those who once betrayed your trust may find the tables wholly turned, and themselves the ones in sudden, dire straits. How we respond then tends to reveal our very own mettle, and whom among us all was truly the superior all along - and who the inferior, the base, the morally bankrupt.
